400 Layoffs Via Email?
I got a kick out of this one. A few years ago, a RadioShack in Fort Worth, Texas laid off over 400 employees via email. A tad insensitive? Yes, I would say so. It certainly did nothing for their reputation, employee confidence levels, retention or recruitment efforts, I’m sure.
Recently I came across an article that discusses the need for sensitivity and caution when undergoing layoffs. The advice provided can go a long way toward recruitment and retention for any firm, as well as, quite simply, handling the difficult act of letting an employee go.
